Current Opportunities

Into Life Video Series

Our Rochester Area Catholic Family of Parishes has a Walking with Moms in Need outreach ministry. Our core team helps to provide accompaniment and assistance to pregnant women and mothers in need.  Over the next few months, we will be meeting monthly to explore the Into Life series developed by the Sisters of Life who minister to pregnant women.  We will journey with the Sisters of Life as they explain what it means to walk with a woman who is pregnant and vulnerable; and learn what it means to deeply listen to and understand the heart of another, how to rejoice in the beauty of the individual person, and what it means to truly accompany someone into God’s life and freedom.

We have materials to help facilitate discussion, and will use the inspiration we draw from watching and discussing the videos to generate ideas for new initiatives that will help us better identify and respond to the needs of vulnerable moms in our community.  We will meet on the following Wednesdays, alternating locations:

  • March 26th at St. Andrew
  • April 23rd at St. Irenaeus
  • May 28th at St. Andrew
  • June 25th at St. Irenaeus

For questions, and to RSVP (to assure we have reserved the right size room!), please contact Lisa at  jljuriga@comcast.net.

Our Family of Parishes Walking with Moms in Need Team

Would you recognize a woman with an unplanned pregnancy or one who is struggling to parent alone if you sat next to her in church?  If you could recognize her need, would you want to reach out in love to help her?  This is your chance!  Our Rochester Area Catholic Family of Parishes has launched our local chapter of  Walking with Moms In Need!   Our core team is gearing up to provide accompaniment and assistance to pregnant women and single mothers in need.  We hope to provide:  new mother mentorship, babysitting, personalized layettes, transportation, help accessing services, breast-feeding and parenting tips, loving support, and community.

What we are able to offer depends on who joins our team.  If you have a special interest, knowledge or skill and want to contribute to our effort—or if you simply have a big heart and desire to help, we want to hear from you!  Got a little love to give?   Contact:  Lisa Juriga at jljuriga@comcast.net.

Hey Moms — do you need a little support?

Are you a mom that could use some accompaniment?  Parenting needs go beyond physical elements like diapers and wipes.  Sometimes we need emotional support, prayer support, or ideas for resources when we are stretched in our ability to problem-solve specific issues our children are facing…. Let us help try to meet your needs or refer you to a resource that can.  Call our Family of Parishes Walking with Moms in Need line:  248-651-9595, ext. 460.  Refer us to a friend who might need parenting support—spread the word, we’re here to walk with you!
